Celebrate National Family Caregivers Month with Your Seniors

By , 11:23 pm on

In-home senior caregivers, whether a devoted family member of a professional care provider, have the ability to dramatically improve an aging adult’s well-being, quality of life and health by sacrificing their own time. Family caregivers are the epitome of selflessness, which is why November is devoted to celebrating them! November is National Family Caregivers month and Home Care Assistance of Omaha wants to make sure that all of the family caregivers out there get the recognition and thanks that they deserve.

During National Family Caregivers Month, we celebrate the caregiver and it’s certainly appropriate to involve the senior in this celebration. Perhaps you can invite a family caregiver or loved one that you know to this year’s Thanksgiving dinner and allow him or her to be the guest of honor. Simple things like allowing them to relax without cooking, or bringing them a glass of wine can be just the little break that they need. Consider purchasing a small gift like flowers and a card to acknowledge all of their hard work and dedication.

Being an in-home senior caregiver in Omaha can be arduous and emotionally taxing, and offering a little something extra is a nice way to let these folks know just how much they are appreciated. Another part of celebrating National Family Caregivers Month is that we recognize what sometimes goes unsaid.

Take time this month to provide a family caregiver with some much needed respite, either by providing care yourself or by hiring a professional hourly caregiver in Omaha, so that the family caregiver can take some time to relax and refresh.

More and more family members are stepping up to the plate to become care providers for an elderly parent or loved one. As we celebrate all of these hard working individuals, let’s also take time to remind them that they’re not alone and that help is available in Omaha when they need it.

If you or someone you know needs help providing care for a senior loved one, contact Omaha Home Care Assistance today at (402) 763-9140. We would be happy to help you schedule a free in-home consultation to address any questions and concerns within the comfort and convenience of your home.
